BOOK REVIEW- Rebel Heir By Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward
From New York Times Bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, comes the first book in a new, sexy duet.
How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:
Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.
Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check.
How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:
Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.
Check. Check. Check.
I should add—especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.
Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.
Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush.
And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.
I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.
As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting—and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.
Gia an aspiring author is staying in the Hamptons in a share house over the summer and she has just snagged herself a job working as a hostess of a local bar/restaurant. Heathcliff Rushmore otherwise know as Rush is not only the bar owner but the heir to a huge part of the town that also includes the house that Gia is renting. Rush is a leather jacket wearing, tattooed bad boy with an intimidating personality until he insists on giving Gia a lift home after work one night that opens up a lot of emotional baggage for him and their relationship becomes very complicated. So apart from the two main characters falling for each other very quickly I really liked this book. The characters are very likable and the story line was unpredictable and an emotional path of twists and turns that leaves you with one hell of a cliffhanger. All over this is a great read and I can’t wait for the next one.
BOOK REVIEW- Jilted By Sawyer Bennett
Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.
Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.
Eden Goodnight went to LA to make it big as a model then an award winning actress at the cost of the relationship that she had with her high school sweetheart Cooper Mayfield. Now finding out while on a red carpet event that her fiancee has been sleeping with another woman a very embarrassed Eden returns to her family home in the small town she grew up in to escape for a while. Only when she arrives she finds Cooper already living in the house so not only does she have to put up with a scorned community who obviously hate her she also has to deal with an angry Cooper as well. But the more time they spend together the more they seem to be dropping back into the comfortable relationship they once had. But will they make the right choices this time? I really liked this book the story line was engaging, easy and romantic. The characters were both very likable and the sex was very hot. This was a lovely story of a second chance and re-connection.
BOOK REVIEW- Promises series boxed set volumes 1-3 By Jessica Wood
Promise to Marry
We were best friends since as early as I could remember. We grew up together. We were next door neighbors. We shared each other’s deepest secrets. When I was thirteen, we made a pact: if we were still single by the time we were 30, we’d marry each other.
Today was my thirtieth birthday. I was single. I knew he was single too.
But we were no longer best friends, and a part of me knew that he hated me.
Promise to Keep
I’ve loved her since we were seven. We were best friends. We even made a pact to marry each other if we were both still single at thirty. I grew up thinking I would always love her for the rest of my life.
But I was proven wrong. Because the first time I made love to her turned out to be the first time I hated her. It became the first time she hurt me, and the first time I wanted nothing to do with her.
Today, nine years after the day that broke us apart, we are both thirty and single, and fate decided to intervene. I finally discovered that the reasons behind her betrayal were far different from the ones I’d created years ago in my mind.
Now I’m torn between my hatred over what she did and my undying love for the one girl who I’ve held close to my heart for most of my life.
But is the truth enough for me to forgive her?
Promise of Forever
He promised to always be my best friend. He promised to marry me if we were both still single at thirty. He promised me a forever together.
But that was before I discovered a secret that seemed to shatter everything I’d come to believe in. Had I lost him before he was ever mine? Had this secret ruined any promise of a forever together?
Promises boxed set volumes 1-3 is a story of two best friends Chloe and Jackson that travels over the years and their changing relationship from high school to late adulthood. Promises had promise for the first couple of chapters for me, then there were just so many things wrong. The characters were shallow and immature even when they were 30 year olds. And apparently they loved each other so much that it didn’t even stop either of them sleeping with everyone and anyone around them. And to be honest I didn’t mind what she did to make money but there really is a line drawn at who she did for money. Unfortunately this was such a messy read for me.

It’s the call I’m terrified to make.

Book 2 in this series follows the romance between Jeremy an Mira who fell in love 17 years earlier, the only problem was that Mira belonged to his best friend. As Jeremy moves on to marry and have a family, Mira gets sucked in to a world full of lies and a loveless marriage until they meet again when Mira finds herself threatened by her ex husband from behind prison bars. The only man she feels that she can trust to help her is Jeremy Lark, now divorced Jeremy doesn’t want to feel anything for Mira and what she did to break his heart all those years ago until he realizes that hes always had them. I really like this book, loved the characters although I did find that their relationship sparked up a little fast after their history. The story line was exciting, filled with drama, action and lots of hot sex. This is a great read and I can’t wait for the next one.
BOOK REVIEW- Surrender By Melody Anne
Raffaello (Rafe) Palazzo takes what he wants with no regrets. Arianna (Ari) Lynn Harlow has led a charmed life until tragedy strikes her family. He’s looking for a no-emotions attached mistress, she’s looking for redemption.
They are not a pair that should ever work, but undeniable attraction and devastating tragedies bring them together in the city by the bay where he fights to keep their relationship nothing more than an enjoyable way to meet his needs, and she battles to not lose herself in him. Spending time with Ari starts cracking the hard shell that Rafe has built around his heart, but he denies the affect she has on him until it’s too late to stop the inevitable conclusion that their relationship is headed for.
Rafe once believed in happily ever after, coming from a large Italian family. He’s got the Midas touch, since every endeavor he tries turns to gold. That all ends when his wife walks out the door and leaves him blindsided. His devastation quickly turns to steel when he decides no woman will fool him again. From that point on he treats relationships as nothing more than business transactions where both party’s come out mutually benefited.
Just when Ari has sunk to the lowest she’s ever been she finds an ad in the paper announcing a job that’s too good to be true. It turns out she’s right. She makes it through the intense rounds of interviews only to find out the job is for a mistress to the powerful Rafe Palazzo, owner of Palazzo Enterprises. Rafe gives her a day to think about whether she wants the position or not, and she’s sent on her way, only to find out her mother’s near-terminal position has taken a turn for the worse. Her mom’s only in the hospital because Ari messed up, and her mother’s the one who paid the price. Is Rafe her savior, or will he take her with him straight to the depths of hell?
After finding his wife in bed with another man Raffaello Palazzo swore off relationships, now he just takes what he wants with no emotional attachments to women, he hires them to be his mistress for a contracted time. Now he needs that position to be filled by Arianna Harlow who desperately needs money to pay for he sick mother’s medical bills and care. But will she give in to becoming a paid whore for Rafe to help her mother? I really tried with this book but there were just so many things wrong with it. The story line was so predictable and boring and the characters were the same. Even when Rafe started to soften towards Arianna I wondered why someone that was so rich and powerful would want a woman that was just plain nasty towards him no matter what he did to help her. I wanted to shout out into the pages to him “Jeez, give it up she is horrible” This was just a terrible read.
